An evening of discussion and debate about experiences of struggle, the possibilities of popular revolt, and state strategies of counterinsurgency in Greece, the UK, and Catalunya.
*Catalunya, Greece, and the UK all present interesting examples of state counterinsurgency. Greece and Catalunya are still in later stages of democratization, whereas the UK is probably the most stable democracy in existence.
Democracy will be analyzed as an extremely successful system of social control that delegitimizes counterattack and then resistance through the use of false dialogues and the alienation of desires from actions. Analyzing these three very different democracies can be useful in constructing strategies for reversing the social pacification accomplished by democracy, and regaining momentum and useful tools for the abolition of capitalism.
